When I replaced my Aastra 480i with a Linksys SPA942 recently, I thought I had done all my homework. When the Linksys SPA942 arrived, however, I discovered that the headset jack was of the 2.5mm variety. This meant I could not plug my Plantronics CS50 into its own separate jack as I had been able to do with the Aastra 480i. I did not want to go back to the tangle of cables and other inconveniences of using the Plantronics adapter so I had already made up my mind to change phones yet again when I ran across this cable on HeadsetPlus.com.

HeadsetPlus was very straight about the fact that the adapter had not been tested with all combinations of phones and Plantronics headsets. The cable was a fraction of the price of yet another phone, however, so I gave it a try. I am very glad I did.

I can't say how the adapter cable will work with other phones and Plantronics headsets but with the Linksys SPA942 and the Plantronics CS50, it works like a charm! You simply remove the cable from the headset jack in the back of the CS50, plug the RJ9 end of the adapter into that jack, and plug the other end into the SPA942. Thereafter, you can use the headset buttons on the phone as they were intended. I could not be happier.
