Zoom Headsets

Choosing a Zoom headset, and where certification comes in

Every Zoom headset in this grid sits on Zoom's own certified list, which settles the compatibility question and leaves the one that actually decides your purchase: which suits the way you take calls. Most people arrive asking about noise cancelling, and that instinct is right. It is the feature that changes a Zoom call most, though not in the way the phrase suggests.

What to look for in a Zoom headset

Start with noise cancelling, because the word covers two different things that solve opposite problems. A noise-cancelling microphone works on what your callers hear: it keeps the keyboard, the room and the colleague behind you out of your audio. Active noise cancellation works on what you hear, muting the room so you can concentrate. Most of this grid does the first; fewer do both, and those cost more.

A few headsets here are QD models, which end in a quick-disconnect plug rather than USB. They are on Zoom's certified list, but as a pair with a USB amplifier - a DA85 or DA90 - and that amplifier is a separate purchase. If the headset is going on a computer rather than a desk phone, check which connector you are buying before you order.

Wireless or corded

This grid leans wireless, and the split is about range rather than sound. Bluetooth models reach Zoom through their own USB adapter and travel between desk and meeting room. DECT keeps a base on the desk and gives you the whole floor. Corded USB is the cheapest way in and the least to go wrong: nothing to charge, nothing to pair.

The cheapest headset that stays on your head all day beats the best one that does not.

Bone conduction, if ears are the problem

A couple of models sit on your cheekbones rather than in or over your ears, leaving the ear canal open. They are Zoom certified like the rest, and they exist for people who cannot wear a conventional headset for a full day - a comfort decision rather than an audio one.

Matching a Zoom headset to how you work
How you take Zoom calls Connection What to prioritise

Moving around the floor DECT with a base Range, and desk space for the base
Open-plan and loud Any Active noise cancellation, not just a good mic
