Description

Built for Hard Hats and Loud Cabs

Some headsets make you choose between serious noise cancellation and wearing it the way your job allows. Put on a hard hat, a cap, or safety glasses and an over-the-head boom headset is suddenly in the way. The BlueParrott C400-XT settles that: the same 96% noise-cancelling boom mic the line is known for, on a headset you can wear over your head or behind your neck, whichever fits the shift and the gear already on it.

It's the convertible pick for people who work loud and rough — long-haul drivers, field crews, warehouse and dock workers, anyone in a hard hat. The flexible boom pivots up out of the way when you're not talking and drops back when you are. Up to 24 hours of talk time covers the longest shift, IP54 toughness handles dust and weather, and it's rated to keep working down to -22°F. Pick your wearing style and get on with the day.

Is the BlueParrott C400-XT the right headset for you?

BlueParrott's road headsets split on two questions: how much noise they cancel, and how you wear them. The C400-XT is where maximum noise cancellation meets wear-it-anywhere flexibility.

It's built for you if — you need top-tier noise cancellation but can't always wear a headband.

  • Hard-hat and field workers. The behind-the-neck styles keep the top of your head clear for a hard hat, cap, or safety glasses, without giving up the 96% boom mic.
  • Drivers who want options. Over-the-head for the long haul, behind-the-neck when the hat goes on — same clarity to dispatch either way.

Look at another model if

  • You want the lightest, most discreet headset. The C300-XT steps down to an 80% mic but adds an ear-hook style and a smaller build for customer-facing work.
  • You want USB-C charging or full voice control. The C400-XT charges over micro-USB and does basic voice answer/reject; the B450-XT (USB-C) or B550-XT (full VoiceControl Pro) cover those.

C400-XT — this one

96% noise-cancelling boom mic, 24-hour battery, over-the-head and behind-the-neck styles. The choice when you need maximum noise cancellation and hard-hat flexibility.

C300-XT

80% noise cancellation in a lighter, more discreet body, with a third ear-hook style and a 10-hour battery. The choice for customer-facing work where small and subtle beats maximum.

Two ways to wear the C400-XT

Both styles are in the box, and swapping between them takes a few seconds.

  • Over-the-head headband. The most secure and most comfortable for a full shift — the default when nothing else is on your head.
  • Behind-the-neck band. Clears the top of your head for a hard hat, cap, or safety glasses. Left and right bands are both included, so it sits right whichever side you run the boom on.

Microphone and 96% noise cancellation on the C400-XT

The noise cancelling works on the microphone, not your ears. The flexible boom mic strips up to 96% of background noise out of what you transmit, so the person on the call hears your voice and not the engine, the wind, or the warehouse. The boom pivots up out of your face when you're off a call and bends back down when you need it — close to your mouth is where it does its best work.

[callout type="honest"]Like the rest of the boom line, the noise control is for your caller, not for you. It's mono, and one ear stays open — which keeps you aware of traffic and the yard around you. If you want a headset that seals you into quiet, this isn't built for that; what it does is keep the noise out of your calls.[/callout]

Battery and range for the long shift

Up to 24 hours of talk time covers the longest day with margin, and 500 hours of standby means it waits in the cab ready for days between charges. A flat headset comes back in about three hours over the included cable — or top it up on the move with the vehicle charger in the box.

[stat]24 hrs talk · 500 hrs standby · ~3 hr charge · 300 ft range[/stat]

Class 1 Bluetooth gives it the reach: up to 300 feet, or 100 meters, from the device it's paired to. Set the phone down in the cab and walk the trailer or the lot without dropping the call.

[callout type="tip"]The catch on that 300-foot figure: you only get the full distance with a Class 1 device on the other end, and most phones are Class 2 — so expect less in practice. Still far enough to leave the phone behind and move around it without losing the line.[/callout]

Control it by voice or by button

VoiceControl answers or rejects calls on your say-so, so a call never costs you a hand on the wheel. Voice dialling reaches Siri or Google Assistant straight from the headset, and voice guidance reads out status so you're not guessing at a blinking light. Everything else lives on the Parrott Button.

[card title="Push-to-talk on the Parrott Button"]

Set the customizable Parrott Button to push-to-talk and the C400-XT works like a two-way radio for the team — hold to talk, phone stowed. It runs with Microsoft Teams Walkie Talkie, Zebra Workforce Connect, Zello, and other push-to-talk platforms. Or map the button to mute or a speed dial instead. One button, set to whatever you reach for most.

IP54-tough, and rated for the cold

IP54 keeps dust and splashes out, and the C400-XT is rated to keep working down to -22°F (-30°C) — built for a January dock as much as a July one. The boom is flexible, not flimsy: it pivots out of the way off a call and bends back into place on one, shift after shift, without wearing out.

What the BlueParrott C400-XT works with

Pair it over Bluetooth 4.1 — tap to connect, or use NFC for one touch — and it carries calls plus music, podcasts, and GPS audio over A2DP. Multipoint keeps two devices connected at once and remembers up to eight, so a work phone and a personal phone can share the headset. It pairs with smartphones, tablets, and hand-held terminals, and the BlueParrott SDK lets fleets wire it into custom workforce apps.

What sets the C400-XT apart isn't a single spec — it's the pairing. You get the 96% boom mic from BlueParrott's loudest-environment headsets, and the freedom to wear it under a hard hat or over your head as the work changes. For a job that's noisy and never quite the same two days running, that's a headset that adapts instead of making you adapt to it.
