GN NETCOM 9120/9125 Wireless headset FAQ
Is there any potential risk of hearing damage when using the headset? GN Netcom products meet the highest user protection standards, with sophisticated sound limiting systems to protect the user against excessive sound levels. For that reason all GN headsets have incorporated protection circuits.
How long is the warranty? The GN Netcom 9120 and Jabra GN9125 is covered by a two-year warranty. Quality issues that arise within this period will be solved at no charge to the customer, provided the product has been used for the purpose for which it was intended and has not been subjected to abuse.
How should I clean my GN 9120/Jabra 9125? The headset and the base unit should be cleaned in the same way as you would a handset, meaning that they can be cleaned with a cleaning tissue. Ear cushions can also be replaced.
Apart from styles, what is the difference between GN 9120 boom arms? The Soundtube-boom has a standard microphone. The standard microphone is like the microphone in your telephone handset. This means that some of the background noise around you will be transmitted to the person your are calling. This type of microphone is commonly used in offices and in environments where the level of noise is limited.The Flex-boom has a noise cancelling microphone and will dramatically limit the amount of background noise around you transmitted to your caller. The Midi-boom has a noise filtering microphone which is not as effective as noise cancelling.
What if I still want to use my telephone handset? Whenever the headset is placed in the base unit your telephone handset can be used. When the headset is removed from the base the link to the headset will be established.
Can I change the headset? It is possible to connect a new GN 9120 headset to the base. Just reset the system by removing the DC-plug for a moment. The system will then match the new headset to the base. For further information see "Registering a new master headset" section below.
Can I use the headset on either ear? Yes, it is easy to change the wearing style from right to left ear - please consult the user guide.
Can I answer and/or terminate calls when I’m away from my desk? Yes - this feature requires a GN 1000 RHL Remote Handset Lifter (available separately). Please consult your user guide for setup information.
Is it possible to change wearing styles? It is very easy to change wearing style on the headset. You can choose between over-the-ear (earhook) and over-the-head (headband) wearing styles.
I am interested in the GN 9120 but have a WiFi network. Will it work? GN Netcom have a large number of customers who are currently enjoying a GN 9120
or Jabra GN9125 within a WiFi environment. While both devices operate on the 2.4 GHz spectrum, The 2.4 GHz bandwidth is an extremely robust radio band. One of the key reasons for the broad acceptance of the 2.4 GHz band over the older 900 MHz band is its larger number of available channels - 95 versus 80. With 18% more bandwidth and Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS), multiple devices can operate without interference. In order to ensure optimal product performance we recommend not placing the GN 9120 immediately adjacent to an existing WiFi station and deploying multiple units incrementally. By deploying incrementally, a site can identify when it begins to approach its maximum capacity. A user will start to experience interference (clicks and pops), as an environment gets more crowded.
I have a GN 9120 and since I started using it, I am having problems with my WiFi network.GN Netcom have a large number of customers who are currently enjoying a GN 9120 within a WiFi environment. However, wireless technologies are dependant on the environment in which they operate including structural issues (walls, fire doors, lift shafts, etc), electronic equipment (transformers, computer servers, poorly grounded fluorescent lights), and other wireless devices.
1) Re-establish WiFi station(s) and GN 9120(s), physically as far apart as possible. This should include all WiFi transmitters - including laptop cards and access points (or wireless routers).
2) Consider shortening your GN 9120 roaming distance - just 5 to 10 feet could eliminate interference.
3) If using multiple GN 9120s, temporarily decommission all GN 9120s and then incrementally (one-by-one) re-establish units to determine maximum saturation for your particular environment. A user will start to experience interference (clicks and pops), as an environment gets more crowded.
Replacing the battery for the GN 9120:
The battery provided with the product will provide you with years of use.
If you need to replace the GN 9120 battery, complete the following:
1. Remove the wearing style as explained in section 5 the quick guide.
2. In the headset receiver, where the battery is located, press down the
plastic tab securing the battery and pull the battery out.
3. Insert a new battery into the battery compartment.
Note: Make sure that the battery is placed correctly in the headset with
the + of the battery corresponding to the + indicated in the battery slot
of the headset.
4. Re-attach the wearing style as explained in section 5 in the quick guide.

GN 9120 Memory reset
When the battery is removed or the power adapter is unplugged (for at least a few seconds), all customized headset settings are returned to factory-set default settings.
I have set up my Jabra GN9125 correctly, but I am getting a buzzing sound on my headset: Your telephone may not be fully immune to the radio transmission between your headset and base. To overcome this problem, move the base at least 12 inches away from the phone. If you have a European version, you can instead choose to set the headset to Low Power mode.
Registering a new master headset
A new master headset may be registered to the product in case of loss or damage to the original headset.
To register a new GN 9120 master headset, complete the following:
1. Charge your new headset for at least 3 hours
2. Unplug the power adapter for a couple of seconds.
3. Place the new master headset into the base unit.
4. Plug the power adapter back to the power socket.
5. All lights flash for app. 4 seconds. After this only the battery indicator will be lit.
6. The new headset is now ready for use.
How do I use GN 9120 in the Conference mode? (1) Lift your master headset out of the base.(2) Initiate or answer a call. (See: Answering/Ending a call). (3) During the call, place another headset into the base. Keep in base until all base lights stop flashing and only the battery – and link indicator are lit. Remove the other headset from base. A beep will be heard in the master headset, after which you have 15 sec. to accept the other headset to the conference call, by pressing the on the master-headset. (4) The other headset leaves the conference call by pressing the momentarily, or by placing the headset momentarily in the base. (5) The conference call is terminated when the master headset is placed in the base, or by pressing the momentarily.
