A Guide To Choosing The Best Polycom Soundstation For Your Application Conference rooms can vary greatly in size, shape and acoustical treatments. Therefore, the following guidelines have been designed to assist you in choosing the correct audio-conferencing system for each of your applications.
The most important consideration to keep in mind is that conference participants should be 3-6 feet from a microphone regardless of room size, table shape or number of conference participants.
Small to medium sized rooms
Room Scenario 1
Room size: Up to 10 x 15 feet
No. of people: Up to 10 People
Recommendation: Polycom Soundstation 2. Suits small to medium sized rooms and will accommodate up to 8-10 people in a meeting.
Room Scenario 2
Room size: Up to 20 x 30 feet.
No. of people: Up to 20 people
Recommendation: Polycom SoundStation2 EX with 2 Ext Mic.
Medium to Large sized rooms
Room Scenario 1
Room size: Up to 30 x 30 feet.
No. of People: 20-25 people
Recommendation: Polycom SoundStation2 EX with 2 Ext Mics (with 2 extension mics). Suits medium to large size rooms and will accommodate up to 20-25 people in a meeting. Extendable mics can be detached to revert back to the Basic unit.
Room Scenario 2
Room size: Up to 30 x 45 feet.
No. of People: Up to 40 people
Recommendation: Polycom SoundStation VTX 1000 (with extension mics & subwoofer). Suits medium to large rooms, including auditoriums, will accommodate up to 40 people in a meeting.
Table Shapes and Sizes for Medium to Large Rooms Rectangular L-Shaped U-Shaped, SoundStations should be placed in the center of the table with an extended mic at each extremity.
REMEMBER: Each participant should be 3-6 foot from either the unit or the microphones.
