- Conference Calls with a Polycom Conference Phone   Date: Friday July 27, 2007
News Summary:
How to make conference calls (3-way calling) with a Polycom Conference Phone?

News Content:

Conference calling (3-way calling) is a service of the phone line itself, not the Polycom conference phone.

To find the steps necessary to place a conference call on your line, you will need to determine who is responsible for the analogue telephone line that you are using. Some lines will come directly from the Telephone Company and the service must be ordered through them. Other lines may come from a local PBX, which is controlled by your company's Telephone Administrator. If the service is available, there may be a key combination that is necessary to access the service. Your Phone Administrator should be able to assist you in determining the correct method to access the service on the line.

If using the Flash button ( also called CONF,R, or conference phone) does not work in the following procedure:

1. Call the first Party.

2. Press FLASH, and wait for the dial tone.

3. Call the second Party.

4. Press FLASH, to conference the two lines together.

then please contact your telephone administrator or local service provider (telephone company) and ask them how to place a conference call on a single line analog phone with a Flash (CONF,R, or conference phone where applicable) button on your network.

No limits are placed on how many participants can be conferenced by the SoundStation itself.
However; the number of participants able to join a conference does depend on the configuration of the PBX or local phone switch or phone line that the SoundStation is connected to.

Please inquire with the Telephone Administrator or local phone company on the number of endpoints that can be conferenced in on the service the unit is utilizing.

If the call does not connect then there are two possible causes:

  1. The Conference service is not available for this line - contact either the telephone service provider or the PBX Administrator
  2. The call is controlled by a PBX which requires a different key combination to access the service - contact the PBX Administrator to determine what the correct key combination is for this line- for example Flash + 0
