The EPOS D 30 needs help answering

Buy a wireless desk phone headset expecting to answer calls from across the room with nothing but your voice, and you'll be disappointed the first time the phone rings while you're at the printer. The EPOS Impact D 30 Phone is a stereo DECT wireless headset built for exactly that kind of freedom — but roaming away from your desk and answering a call away from your desk are two different capabilities, and only one of them is included out of the box.

It's a double-sided, over-the-head DECT 6.0 headset that connects to a desk phone only — no USB, no PC connectivity in this configuration. EPOS rates it for up to 12 hours of talk time on a full charge, fast charging that recovers 50% battery in 20 minutes, and a roaming range up to 590 feet line of sight or around 200 feet in a typical office. ActiveGard technology protects against sudden sound spikes on the line, and it carries a 2-year warranty.

Does the EPOS D 30 let you answer calls away from your desk?

Not on its own. The EPOS D 30 lets you roam away from your desk once a call is already connected — walk to the printer, step into the hallway, keep talking the whole way. But starting or ending a call from a distance requires a separate accessory: either the EPOS HSL 10 II mechanical handset lifter, which physically lifts your phone's receiver when you press answer on the headset, or an Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) cable for phones with that built-in capability. Neither ships with the D 30 — both are sold separately.

This is the single most common point of confusion with wireless desk phone headsets, and it's worth getting right before you order. Without an HSL10 lifter or EHS cable, the EPOS D 30 answers calls fine at your desk, and lets you roam once connected — but someone still has to physically start the call at the phone. If hands-free answering from anywhere in the office is the reason you're buying a wireless headset, budget for the lifter or EHS cable as part of the purchase, not as an afterthought.

HSL10 lifter or EHS — which one do you need?

It depends on your desk phone. The HSL 10 II is a mechanical device that physically lifts your phone's handset, and works with essentially any corded desk phone regardless of brand. An EHS cable is an electronic connection built for phones with that specific capability — Polycom and certain Cisco models each need their own EHS adapter. If you're not certain which your phone needs, that's worth confirming before ordering rather than guessing.

How far can you roam with the EPOS D 30?

The EPOS D 30 uses DECT 6.0 wireless technology rated for up to 590 feet (180 meters) line of sight, and around 200 feet in a typical office once walls and furniture are factored in. That's enough range to walk to a conference room, a break area, or another department while a call stays connected.

12 hours talk time, 590 ft range

What changed from the DW Pro 2

A familiar headset, a better base

The EPOS D 30 Phone is the direct successor to the Sennheiser DW Pro 2, and very little changed on the headset itself — the specs and design are nearly identical, and batteries and ear cushions are interchangeable between the two generations. What's genuinely different is the base station: a redesign with an improved magnetized charging connection, so seating the headset back on its base is more reliable than the older mechanism.

Stereo blocks the noise, or go mono with the D10

EPOS D 30 — stereo (dual)
Both ears covered for more isolation on a noisy floor. Shares a base station family with other EPOS D-series headsets.
EPOS D 10 — mono (single)
One ear open to stay aware of the room. Same DECT range and talk time, lighter wearing style.

The EPOS D 30 is the headset for a desk phone user who genuinely moves during the day — connected calls that survive a walk to the printer, 12 hours of battery that outlasts a full shift, and a fast-charge window that recovers half a charge on a coffee break. Pair it with an HSL10 lifter or EHS cable if hands-free answering from anywhere matters to your role, and it's ready to roam the moment it's paired to the base.

Software. This configuration of the EPOS D 30 connects to a desk phone only and has no USB or PC connectivity — it's not a softphone or UC headset. For a version that also connects to a computer, ask about the EPOS D 30 USB variant.

Hardware. The EPOS D 30 pairs to its base station, which connects to a desk phone's handset port. To answer or end calls without touching the phone, add an HSL 10 II mechanical lifter (works with most corded desk phones) or an EHS cable matched to your phone brand — Polycom and select Cisco models each require a specific adapter.

Platforms. The EPOS D 30 is built for desk-phone-based office roles where roaming during a call matters more than answering remotely — reception desks, account management, and any role tied to a landline extension.
