Plantronics EncorePro HW530D Over-the-Ear Digital Headset (6-Pin QD, DA90)
The Plantronics EncorePro HW530D skips the headband
Not everyone wants a headband. Some agents find them hot, some hate the dent they leave in their hair, and plenty take the headset on and off a dozen times a shift. The Plantronics EncorePro HW530D Digital Series headset is built for them — it loops over one ear instead, with no band across your head, at a weight you'll forget you're wearing.
It's the over-the-ear member of Poly's EncorePro 500 Digital line — the same contact-center durability and DA90-managed digital system as the HW510D and HW520D, in an earhook design that's one of the lightest headsets you can buy.
Over the ear, not over the head
The EncorePro HW530D is an earhook headset: it hooks over and rests on one ear, with no headband over the top of your head. That makes it discreet, quick to put on and take off, and — at around 22 grams — dramatically lighter than the over-the-head EncorePros, which run 50 to 75 grams.
It ships with two ear hooks, small (88mm) and large (92mm), so agents can size the fit to their own ear, and a clothing clip keeps the cord out of the way. One ear stays open, so an agent can still hear a colleague or supervisor — the same situational awareness as the mono over-the-head model, without anything resting on the crown of the head.
The EncorePro HW530D needs the DA90
As a Digital-series EncorePro, the HW530D uses a 6-pin Quick Disconnect and works only with Poly's DA90 USB audio processor (or a 6-pin MDA526 or MDA490). It is not compatible with standard 4-pin amplifiers or cords — the SoundGuard DIGITAL hearing protection and Plantronics Manager Pro management run through the DA90.
Earhook or headband — which EncorePro?
If you've already chosen the Digital series, the remaining question is how it sits on your agents.
No headband, around 22 g, discreet, and quick on and off. For agents who dislike headbands, take the headset on and off often, or want the lightest possible fit.
A traditional headband holding a single earpiece, a bit more stable at a stationary desk. For agents who prefer a classic fit that won't shift.
The EncorePro essentials, in an earhook
Light as it is, the HW530D keeps the EncorePro fundamentals: laser-welded construction for years of use, a noise-canceling boom with visual and tactile positioning guides so every agent sounds clear, and wideband audio. Through the DA90, it adds SoundGuard DIGITAL hearing protection and fleet management. One naming note: that "digital" is hearing protection, not active noise cancellation — the EncorePro HW530D has a noise-canceling mic for your caller, but it doesn't cancel ambient sound for you.
The EncorePro HW530D is for the agent who'd rather not wear a headband at all — and for the IT team that still wants the DA90-managed digital system across every desk. It's the lightest way into Poly's contact-center Digital series, durable enough to last, and discreet enough that agents actually keep it on. Pair it with the DA90, size the ear hook, and it all but disappears — backed, like everything here, by HeadsetPlus's lifetime support.

Software. Connected through the DA90, the EncorePro HW530D works with PC softphones — Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and others — and, with Plantronics Manager Pro, gives IT fleet-wide monitoring, configuration, and asset tracking. The digital hearing-protection processing runs in the DA90.
Hardware. The EncorePro HW530D requires the Poly DA90 USB audio processor (or a 6-pin MDA526 or MDA490). Its 6-pin Quick Disconnect won't work with standard 4-pin Poly amplifiers or cords. If you don't have a DA90, the standard over-the-ear EncorePro HW530 is the right headset.
Platforms. The EncorePro HW530D is built for IT-managed contact centers — and especially for agents who prefer no headband, move around, or put the headset on and off frequently through the day.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
The EncorePro HW530D is an over-the-ear (earhook) headset — it hooks over and rests on one ear, with no headband across the top of your head. That makes it discreet, quick to put on and take off, and, at around 22 grams, one of the lightest contact-center headsets available.
Yes. The EncorePro HW530D uses a 6-pin Quick Disconnect and works only with Poly's DA90 USB audio processor (or a 6-pin MDA526 or MDA490). It won't connect to standard 4-pin amplifiers or cords. If you aren't using a DA90, buy the standard over-the-ear EncorePro HW530 instead.
The wearing style. The EncorePro HW530D is over-the-ear with no headband — lighter and more discreet. The HW510D is the over-the-head version with a traditional headband, which sits more stably at a desk. Both are mono, Digital-series headsets requiring the DA90, with the same audio and hearing protection.
The EncorePro HW530D weighs about 22 grams — among the lightest headsets made, because the earhook design has no headband. That makes it well suited to agents who wear a headset all day or take it on and off frequently.
No. The "digital" in the EncorePro HW530D refers to SoundGuard DIGITAL hearing protection, not active noise cancellation. It has a noise-canceling microphone that keeps your background out of the caller's ear, but it does not electronically cancel ambient sound for the wearer.
Yes. The EncorePro HW530D includes two ear hooks — small (88mm) and large (92mm) — so agents can size the fit to their own ear, plus a clothing clip for cord management. The ear cushion is also replaceable for long-term use.
