Matching a Polycom headset to your phone
Every EncorePro on this page comes two ways. The Polycom Certified version includes the Polycom RJ9 cable, so it goes into the phone's headset port with no amplifier. The standard QD version comes with no cable at all, and on a Polycom phone it needs the U10P, a 10-foot coiled cable with a Quick Disconnect plug on one end and an RJ9 plug on the other. The U10P is also the one to buy if you already have a Plantronics QD headset and only need it to reach a Polycom phone.
Jabra QD headsets take a Jabra cord instead. The 8800-00-01 is a 20-inch QD to RJ9 cord made for Polycom phones, and the GN1200 smart cord has a slide switch that sets it up for the phone it's plugged into.

Answering calls with a wireless headset
A wireless headset's base needs an EHS cable before you can answer and end calls from the headset, and the cable has to match the headset brand. The APP-51 is for Poly CS500 and Savi headsets, the Jabra Link 17 is for Jabra Pro and Engage headsets, and the CEHS-PO 01 is for Sennheiser DW headsets. Without one, you're walking back to the desk to pick up the handset.
On a SoundPoint IP, two settings catch people out. The Analog Headset option, under Settings, Basic, Preferences, Headset, has to match the headset: Plantronics Mode or Jabra DHSG. And a Plantronics EHS cable needs SIP software 3.1 or later. If your phone has an expansion module attached, the APP-51 also needs the 85638-01 extension cable to reach the phone. Headphones for a Polycom desk phone need a microphone and a connection the phone accepts. Polycom VVX and SoundPoint IP phones take a headset through a dedicated RJ9 headset port, and the VVX 450 also has USB ports. The Polycom Certified EncorePro headsets here come with the RJ9 cable for that port.
Plantronics EncorePro headsets with the U10P cable work with the VVX 101, 150, 201, 250, 300, 301, 310, 311, 350, 400, 401, 410, 411, 450, 500, 501, 600 and 601. The Polycom Certified versions include the Polycom RJ9 cable for those phones.
Polycom headsets with the Polycom RJ9 cable work with SoundPoint IP phones, the IP 550 included. The SoundPoint IP 320, 321, 330 and 331 are the exception: they need an RJ9 to 2.5mm headset adapter from Polycom first.
