If you’re looking to save a little money but still be able to stream music to your head phones, this would be a decent choice. Another thing this headset lacks is the active noise canceling. This is still a great headset, but I’d recommend paying a little more and getting the Savi 8220. This is my favorite headset. I currently use the Jabra Engage 65 Stereo. Think of the Engage 75 as the big brother of the 65. This headset is absolutely beastly. You can connect this monster to 5 devices at the same time. 1 desk phone, 2 USB devices, and 2 Bluetooth devices. A bit overkill if you ask me, but hey, it’s better to have more than less. As I type this, I’m listening to some heavy metal, on my Engage series headset. Considering these headsets were not designed for the enjoyment of music, these are damn good quality speakers. This headset has the best wireless range, talk time, and just overall quality out of all the others that I’ve used before. If you want to save some money, you can always go for the Engage 65 Stereo. Whats’ the Difference Between Plantronics Savi 700 Series and Plantronics CS500 Series
The main difference between these two Wireless Series’ is that the Savi 700 Series (Savi W740, W710, W720, W730) can connect to multiple devices, and the CS 500 Series (CS510, CS520, CS530, CS540) can only connect to one device. If you find you would like to use your headset with your computer and cell phone, in addition to your desk phone, then the Plantronics Savi 700 series is right for you. If you simply need a headset for your desk phone, then a headset in the CS 500 series will do the trick.
These are the Plantronics Savi 700 headset models that can connect to 3 devices, through the computer via USB, to a cell phone via Bluetooth, and a desk phone. The Savi 700 Series is one of the highest quality headsets money can buy, with excellent range and volume control in addition to the seamless connection between the 3 devices mentioned. The headset itself is not a Bluetooth Headset, however; the connection to a cell phone is actually between the Headset Base and your device. The knob, when turned clockwise, or in the direction in which the arrow points, will increase the sensitivity of the sensor which let’s your Jabra wireless headset know your phone is ringing. The only repercussion with having it turned all the way up, is it may pick up other loud noises such as a sneeze or barking dog.
There is also a button located to the front of the lifter that disables the ring tone function altogether. What signifies it being disabled is a flashing red light.
The switch on top of the device, as you may already know, adjusts the height of which the lifter arm will raise your handset.
That pretty much covers all the switches and buttons on your GN 1000 Remote Handset Lifter, also included with the lifter is an additional ring sensor, with tape, if your ringtone speaker is not located under your handset, you need to place this over the speaker and plug it into the Handset Lifter. Otherwise it is just an extra part.

If you’re looking for a device to connect a headset to both your desk phone and computer- here’s the Plantronics MDA200
The MDA200 is very versatile, having a USB port to connect a headset, you can use any corded or wireless USB headset, any H-series Plantronics headset with a USB Adapter, and even a Bluetooth USB Dongle compatible with a hearing aid pendant. Connecting a USB headset to the MDA200:
After first plugging the MDA200 to the computer, then to the desk phone you will be using, you can plug in your corded or wireless USB Headset. There is a phone wire for the desk phone, and a USB wire for the computer, so that’s pretty straightforward. Once you are set up, to switch back and forth you simply push the button of the device you so desire. When a call comes into your deskphone, you will first have to answer the call by picking up the handset, then (if necessary) activate the headset by pressing the answe to allow it to take over the call.
*You can use a Plantronics HL10 Lifter to eliminate the need of picking up the handset, more on that in a moment.
With these two items, you can use a corded H-Series Plantronics headset with a DA USB Adapter form Plantronics to achieve the same end as a USB corded headset. The two Quick Disconnect (QD) plugs will snap together, and you’re ready to plug and play with the MDA200 the same way a USB headset would.
Remote Answering with the MDA200:
As shown above, the lifter will be placed directly under the handset with included double sided tape, and plugged into the MDA200, also pictured is the aforementioned wall adapter needed for the lifter. The lifter should be placed near the ear piece of the handset, once installed, engage the lifter by pressing the phone button on the MDA200. If you hear a dial tone, you are good to go! If not, there is a switch behind the lifter that controls how high the handset is raised, increase the height until you get the handset to a level where it is off the phone hook.
EHS Cable Set-up:
Your phone maybe compatible with an EHS cable, which takes the place of the lifter and answers calls electronically, as opposed to physically lifting/answering the phone. In this case you would not need a Wall adapter, and you would simply plug the dual pronged plug to the MDA200 and the other end to their respective ports behind your desk phone. If you are using a Plantronics Wireless Headset via Plantronics APP-51 Electronic Hookswitch Cable into a Polycom IP Phone, and intermittently the headset will cut/drop out of the call- follow these steps to try and troubleshoot the problem.
The following steps will effectively reset both the Phone System, and the Wireless Headset System:
On the Polycom Phone, get to the Menu. Then select the following options: Settings > Basic > Preferences > Headset > – then look for the following- Plantronics Mode/Plantronics Hookswitch Mode / Plantronics EHS, Press Select/Enable, then the phone should reboot.
Once this is done, initiate a ‘hard reset’ by unplugging the phone line or Ethernet cable from the phone, wait 15 seconds, then plug the line back in.
Next, you will have to reset your wireless headset, the following pictures show a CS540 Wireless Headset System – the battery panels to other headsets can be found on the ear piece in different locations.
If using a CS540 with a headband, make sure the earpiece is lined up with the headband, so it disconnects properly without much force
Step 1: Remove the battery cover/panel
Step 2: Take out and disconnect the battery
Step 3: Disconnect the power cable from the wireless headset base
Step 4: Wait 15 seconds
Step 5: Plug the battery back into the headset and plug the power cord back into the base unit
Step 6: Reset the base by pressing and holding the button located on top of the unit towards the rear, the white light on the front of the base should start to blink
Step 7: Pair the headset by holding the “Volume Up” button for 10-15 seconds. On the CS540, it’s a little knob you have to hold up if held so the ear piece would be on your right ear (as shown in picture). The blinking on the base should change to solid white.
Once this is done, you should be finished and experience no call droppings! Cheers!
The Zoomswitch Training Adapter, is packaged together with two Plantronics Wireless headsets which allows two wireless headsets to connect to one deskphone for training purpose:
the zoomswitch training adapter comes with 1 cord to plug into your phone:
This cable goes from the TEL plug on the adapter to the HANDSET port of your deskphone.
The two ports on the bottom of the adapter are for the 2 Wireless Headsets that you will be using for training.
Each Wireless headset will come with a cable that goes from the wireless headset, to the handset port of a desk phone, this cable is will be what plugs into the adapter.
Port ‘A’ should be for the supervisor, or whoever is responsible for answering and ending calls, as whoever is on switch A will have the ability to answer and end the call (if used with a remote answering device, an HL10)
The buttons on the face of the Adapter will mute the appropriately labeled Headset (pushing the button Labelled ‘B’ will mute that headset)
The setting switch labelled ‘1/2’ changes the adapter from working with 1 headset, to 2 headsets or vice versa. If you are training, this will have to be on ‘2’
To test for a dial tone on both headsets, make sure ‘2’ is selected, raise the handset off of the phone and place on your desk, then turn on each headset and listen for a dial tone.

We’ve all been on been stuck on a long phone call whether it be for work, or just chatting with a friend.
