Polycom Headsets

Polycom Headset Compatibility Starts With Your Phone Model

Every Polycom headset here plugs into a VVX or Poly Edge desk phone, and the port it uses decides what else you have to buy. Wired models connect to the headset jack and work immediately. A Polycom wireless headset sits on a base that uses the same jack, and answering from across the room needs an EHS cable that ships separately.

Which Polycom Headset Fits Your Phone

Match the connection to how much you move, not to the model number on the phone. Wired and DECT headsets fit the headset jack on VVX and Poly Edge desk phones. What changes between models is Bluetooth, and whether the phone answers calls remotely over an EHS cable.

Which connection you need
Connection Best for Where it works Answering away from the desk
Wired One desk, headset stays put At the desk Not possible
Wireless DECT Walking to the printer mid-call Across the office Needs the EHS cable
Bluetooth Sharing one headset with a cell phone Same room Only if the phone has Bluetooth
USB Softphone calls on a laptop At the laptop Handled in the softphone app
DECT range is measured in open office space. Plasterboard, glass partitions and a metal desk between you and the base all cut it, so the figure on the box is a ceiling rather than what you will get.

Polycom VVX headset compatibility

Polycom VVX compatible headsets split by generation, and the difference that matters is whether the phone has Bluetooth. Where it does, a Polycom Bluetooth headset pairs directly. Where it does not, a wireless model runs over DECT and needs the EHS cable to answer away from the desk.

The cable that makes a wireless headset actually wireless is the one that does not come in the box.

Choosing between Polycom headsets

The best Polycom headset for a call center is rarely the best one for a hybrid desk. Full shifts on the phone want a dual-ear wired model; three calls a day and a laptop want a Bluetooth or USB one.

The full headsets compatible with polycom guide lists tested pairings for each VVX model, including a Polycom VVX 250 headset and Polycom VVX 411 headset compatibility. Setup for wireless models is covered in the polycom ehs cable notes. For an older desk phone, see polycom soundpoint ip 550 headset pairings, and for a meeting room rather than a desk, polycom soundstation units.
