Are you looking for a headset for a noisy office or loud call center with lots of people talking on the phone at the same time? Are you having problems concentrating on the phone and your caller because it’s so loud and noisy? This is a very common problem in a large call center or office where office workers are situated close to each other in cubicles.
HeadsetPlus.com have noise canceling headsets that could help you. Depending how loud is your “noisy office”, almost all the headsets nowadays have noise canceling microphones, so it eliminates most (about 60-80%) of the background noise for your “listener”, so the person on the other end of the phone call don’t pick up the background chatter. However, a noise canceling microphone does nothing to block out the noise for “you” when you’re on the phone. In order to “block out” all the office noise for you, you will need a binaural headset with double ear cups to cover both ears, here are some options:
Plantronics HW261N is adequate If your office is “not too noisy”, Small office with a room with only 5-6 people talking at the same time. If your call center office is so loud with hundreds of people all talking at the same time. You might consider this SHR2083-01 headset instead. There are a large section of people who kind of get tangled up with headsets and headphones. Headphones happen to have earpieces while their main purpose is to listen to music. Headsets too have earpieces (can even have 1 earpiece based upon the style) additionally a microphone, main objective being to aid communications (both talking & listening) via an ATC instrument, computer, phone, etc.
Headsets can be used as an enhancement for hearing music, for voice identification technology, on gaming consoles, communicating with tower on the runway and even to speak to your husband while you are chopping some vegetables. Headsets basically keep you in hands free modes when you are occupied yet want to communicate. Through headsets speaking through your when driving a car is much more safe.
The 1st basic radio headset was innovated in the year 1910 by Nathaniel Baldwin who was then studying at the Stanford University. As most innovators are, Baldwin too was a person thinking differently and was unable to get the backing of a private company to mass-produce his radio headset. His innovation remained an unknown entity for a couple of years till one day when the U.S. Navy asked for a hundred headsets just prior to the World War I taking place. In the early days of headsets requirements came mainly from the aviation industry. As a matter of fact 2 pilots began Plantronics in the year 1961, as they needed a not too heavyweight, cockpit headset that was comfortable on use. The result – Plantronics MS-50, the lightest headset in the world came out—and till date is used by pilots plying commercial flights!
Even though the aircraft industry showed that lightweight headsets were viable, only with the advent of the telephone its true demand was set. During 1960s, Bell System’s system board machinists were left feeling lethargic due to their uneasy, weighty headsets, due to which a high percentage of machinists had to take to doing neck-strengthening drills so that they could again be in a position to use those headsets.
Plantronics gave Bell machinists the identical MS-50 aircraft headset for application. Thereafter quite a handful of machinists asked for headsets that instead of fitting over the head, sat around the ear. For this – StarSet headset was brought out in the year 1970. During 1980s, Plantronics came out with Supra headset that has recently become the most widely accepted telephone headset across the globe. Then during the 1990’s, cell phones were all over the place, and that’s when Plantronics introduced the M-Series headsets. Following 2000, hands free communication’s popularity has soared, and that’s when Plantronics introduced the Bluetooth-enabled M3000. (Briefly, Bluetooth happens to be technology for wireless radio connectivity of electronic gadgets sans using wires—an idea that some years were pure imagination. Now is widely used)
One off late development with regards to headsets is taking place on the PC. The number of people using such services is increasing by the day and applies it for online gaming that is interactive, voice recognition plus for phone calling. Plantronics produced ‘DSP series’ and ‘dot Audio series’ headsets just to aid computers services.
There are newer headsets in the market frequently as its office & home application keeps evolving. Communications is actually getting cheaper and thus it is a growing market with there being millions of new mobile subscribers in China and India every month so the market is a bright for the headset devices too. And headsets are no longer a opulence, it is the way the world communicates today.
Users of telephone headset have numerous vital & quantifiable advantages, which are given here below in brief –
Having headset converts into the hands being free, this allows you to multi-task while also attending the telephone
To function effectively a clean posture is a must. Having put on a headset allows you not to have to lean forward or sit uncomfortably holding the handset; actually neck muscle tension & higher back stress can decrease nearly thirty-one percent.
When the 2 hands are free, one’s efficiency while receiving a call could go up by forty-three percent because the person can take notes or type or even send files to the next table all while call attending.
With there being better circuitry in these headsets, sound quality improves considerably.
Seventy percent of calls does not reach their destination on the 1st occasion, converting into more voice mails & then there is communication gap for decision-making. With wireless headsets you are never away from such calls.

This year Apple launched 3 new iPhones , and if you are as excited as I am about this. Your next question on mind is “Which headset should I get for my brand new iPhone that would allow me to make it more productive?” For this answer I took the liberty of analyzing a couple of headsets that can help on getting the more of your new iPhone. Main brands will be analyzing will be Plantronics and Jabra, two well know names in the industry and dedicated on bringing the best active and passive noise canceling on productivity headsets.
Jabra have done their homework with the EVOLVE 75, this handset has Active Noise canceling speakers, which eliminate the background noise for listening. microphone boom arm that can be clipped on the headband when you use it for music only. It has 100 ft. range using the USB Bluetooth dongle that comes with, amazingly it gives you up to 15 hours of battery life when fully charged after 3 hours. My favorite part of the EVOLVE 75 would be the docking station that comes with, making it easy to set up, plug, charge, and use with a very clean and neat style. Another benefit of the EVOLVE 75 would be the compatibility with most of soft phones and virtually compatible with any desktop, laptop either PC or Mac. You can read more about the Evolve 75 HERE
Plantronics give us the Voyager Focus which is an amazing headset with 15 hours of music streaming, or 12 hours of talking time. Active noise cancelling technology that helps blocking out distracting sounds. The Voyager Focus comes with an amazing feature of answering calls by simply putting the headset, mute a call by just taking it off, same as with pause/resume music. Comes with a nice charging station that paired to the USB Bluetooth dongle that comes with can give you a range up to 150 feet on range. Can be used virtually on any Windows or Mac computer, Plantronics Hub is available for both platforms. More details on the Voyager Focus can be found HERE
Jabra give us this option, for people who wants the best quality, but they don’t like to have something too bulky on their head, or simply want to workout while at work. The EVOLVE 75e is a practical behind the neck option, usual earbuds will give you 3-4 hours top on a single charge. Jabra had surpassed this and they give us 14 hour of music time or 13 hour of talk time with barely a 2 hour charge time. Pretty much the same features of the big brother EVOLVE 75 but in a more compact package, amazing integration of Siri with the microphone makes it seamless and easy to use. Included in the box are three sizes of EarGel ear tips and three ear wing sizes to ensure a snug fit. So you can fit it on the most comfortable way you want them. You can order your Evolve 75e HERE

The Voyager 5200 has the WindSmart technology, that as its name says, clears the audio in the microphone in windy days. 7 hours of talk time is standard, or can get up to 9 days on standby. Voyager Legend comes with a nice P2i technology, which is a nano-coating that protects the headset against sweat and moisture damage for the people that are always moving around. Voyager Legend will give you 7 hours of talk time or 11 days of standby with barely 90 minutes of charging, you can use this headset for your soft phone using the Plantronics Hub software available either for Windows or Mac, a nice feature is the integration of the headset battery meter on your iPhone’s screen.
