But for buyers with stricter requirements, Poly's own FAQ is explicit: it recommends the Savi 7300 or 7400 series instead, built to the higher DECT Security Step C tier with 256-bit AES encryption and — on the 7300 line — a version with no Bluetooth radio at all. If your organization's security policy is doing more than checking a box, that's the distinction to know before ordering.

A base built to work across your whole fleet

The Poly Savi 8420 wireless headset ships with the Universal Office Base, and the same headset top is used on the Savi 8220 UC — the difference between the two products is entirely in the base, not the headset itself. That same base also pairs with Savi 7300, 7400, and 8200 series headset tops, so IT can standardize on new base hardware without retiring every older headset in the same rollout.

Range, battery, and what to expect day to day

Remote hands-free answering on the desk phone leg requires an HL10 handset lifter or EHS cable, sold separately — the base alone answers with a button press rather than lifting the handset automatically.
